Statement direct from Steve (20th June 2010)
"I have now had four operations, two on my arm and two on my neck so thought it was time I updated everyone on my progress.
I now have four plates, two rods and 23 screws holding my body together!!!
I am back home after being released from hospital midweek and am ready to start my rehabilitation. The specialist is very pleased with the two operations to plate the vertebrae in my neck and he says that after another couple of days rest I can start swimming and also go to the gym. I have already begun some phsyio and should see some improvement in my arm very spoon. Its only four weeks since the crash so really its early days yet.It will take however long it takes and I just have to be patient. I will not be back racing until I am fully fit, I need to make sure everything is healed up and not return too soon.
I would like to thank everyone for their texts, emails, cards and phone calls, it has been really encouraging to think that so many of you are interested in my progress. I will update the site on a regular basis now so please come back and check it in a couple of weeks.
Hopefully I will be at Mallory on race day to support HM Plant Honda next week so will maybe see some of you then.
Cheers
Steve"
