Steve ShorttrackingSteve to race at Scunthrpe

Fresh from his victory at the Macau Grand Prix, Steve has announced he is to race at Scunthorpe Speedway circuit in the Shorttrack Christmas Cracker event on December 30th.

He will warm up for the event he first contested last year by riding in a trial at Scunthorpe on Boxing Day followed by an appearance at the Poacher Trial at Cadwell the following day.

After finishing sixth in 2005 Steve is looking for a top five finish this time around but the addition of Rizla Suzuki rider Chris Walker, former world Superbike champion Neil Hodgson and 11 times TT winner John McGuinness to the line-up makes the challenge even more difficult this year.

Also on the bill is CCM rider and 2006 Shorttrack champion Lee Complin, Supermoto ace and works Husaberg rider Andy Mitchell, motocrosser Johno White and grasstrack star Jamie Rodgers making for an exciting and competitive day of racing.

Racing starts at 1.30pm, admission is £8.50 (adult), £6 (seniors) £3 (children 5 – 16) and under fives free.

Steve said: “I am really looking forward to the three events, I had a great time last year and my aim this year is to get on the podium. But as the competition is even greater this time I will have a hard task on my hands.

“I am close to sealing a deal to race in BSB next season and should be in a position to make an announcement shortly. In the meantime I intend to enjoy the three races between Christmas and New Year.”
