Hope Technology

Fancied a new mountain bike, fully suspended as planning a trip to the Alps later this year. Gave Mick Grant a call as know he’s recently bought one, he introduced me to Hope Technology based in Barnoldswick Lancs.

Hope have been manufacturing high quality cycle parts for 25 years, specialising in mountain bikes but have massive passion for anything two wheeled.

Couple of very friendly phone calls I was on the road with a fist full of dollars up the A1 North. With the sat nav getting excited just over the North Yorkshire border into Lancashire I passed a massive Rolls Royce factory…. this surprised me, always thought they were based next to Lord march’s Goodwood Circuit and airfield?

Passing through reception soon became obvious these boys are also big trials bike fans, plenty of twin shock & pre-65 machines dotted around with a young workforce of around 140 people making every component you can think of that will bolt onto/into your mountain bike.

Watching callipers, gears, handlebars, hubs, seat posts, handlebar stems and many other parts being made was great but to see these guys filling moulds with carbon fibre making frames….. of course all hand made taking considerable time for strength alongside perfecting direction and lines of the carbon weaving….. awesome.
