Ducati Trioptions Cup Round 3 - Oulton Park

Arrived Oulton early Saturday morning to brief all our Ducati Tri-Option Cup riders this weekend…. 42 on the grid. Dry but cold day with our usual free practice and qualifying day-1 of the weekend….. but NO last chance qualifying race with the Cheshire circuit's strict noise restrictions tightening the schedule bank holiday weekend.

Dan Barfoot one of our www.trueheroesracing.co.uk riders unfortunately crashed breaking his collarbone so with 40 being allowed on the grid and Chris Richardson not riding on Monday all our entries guaranteed a race for the weekend.

Race one Jon Railton’s bike suffered a leaking coolant hose, an aftermarket part being fitted to help cool his 959 Pannigale failed showering Hizzy’s chicane with water and 5 bikes hitting the deck at slow speed without injury. With only three completed from planned 10 lapper, the race was to be settled with 5-lap sprint. Collier, Guiver with Neary pipping Atkinson for third with again Carl Stevens first 899 home.

Race-2 Monday Collier suffered his usual poor start, consistently fastest all weekend though he soon passed Guiver to dominate. Guiver gave chase but made an uncharacteristic mistake grass-tracking through Foulstons chicane leaving Atkinson and Levi Day to battle for the last two steps on the podium. Great battle ended with Boost Plumbing rider Levi Day grabbing 3rd for his first 2017 podium.

Next Weekend I’ll be heading off for the Vauxhall International NW200, see you there!
